Louisburg Bike Trail
The Louisburg Bike Trail is a 2.2 mile paved bicycle trail that has a terminus at S. Main St. and at Vance Granville Community College (VGCC). The S. Main St. terminus is located at Depot St. Hill, just south of the Tar River bridge on S. Main St. Access to the this end of the trail may be made either from the parking lot at this location or via a short pedal from Riverbend Park. Bicyclists may use the other terminus as a starting or ending point as there is ample parking at VGCC.
The construction of the trail was made possible through a generous Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant from the State of North Carolina, as well as, a long term lease of the previous rail corridor from the NC Department of Transportation Rail Division. The placement of this trail within the previous Seaboard Rail Corridor allows for the continued use of the public land for a current activity while maintaining the linear nature of the corridor should light rail use be developed in the future.
