Located only 45 minutes away, Raleigh Durham International Airport provides the gateway to large commercial domestic and international carriers. Louisburg is also home to a number of small general and sport aviation strips. Only 10 minutes from Louisburg is the new Franklin County Regional Airport, a new 5,500 ft designated by FAA as a reliever for RDU with ILS (Instrument Landing System) and AWOS-3 (Automated Weather Observation System) & GCO (Ground Communications Outlet).
There are 37 colleges & educational institutions within a 2.5 hour drive from Louisburg. Many of the institutions are known for their world renowned research facilities and cutting edge technological developments on top of recognition as outstanding institutions of higher education. An ancillary benefit to a number of these campuses is the enjoyment of many of the most recognized and successful collegiate athletic programs in the country. Home to many National Championship basketball, lacrosse, track and field, and other athletic teams, these institutions provide a great entertainment resource as well.
